The key categories of information you should avoid sharing include personally identifiable details (name, address, IDs), intimate personal life details, medical and health information, confidential work or proprietary business data, and financial information like bank or credit card details. Because some AI systems use user inputs to train their models and retain data indefinitely, experts recommend treating AI chats as “semi-public” rather than private, deleting past chats, adjusting privacy settings, and being cautious about what you enter moving forward.
