Molecular Biology Scientist | Clinical-Stage Biopharmaceutical Company

DESCRIPTION:

Our bicoastal client is focused on the development and commercialization of novel therapies to treat orphan disease with an initial focus on cardiopulmonary indications. With 36 employees and growing, we seek to hire a Molecular Biology Scientist.

One will join our client’s Protein Engineering group and be responsible for design, construction and initial evaluation of product candidates.

  • One will report to the Associate Director, Protein Engineering.

HIGHLIGHTS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and construction of fusion protein expression vectors.

  • Transformation and evaluation of cell lines expressing recombinant proteins.

  • Evaluate any applicable new technologies or techniques to enable improvement of expression systems used for production of fusion proteins.

  • Participate in process for continued development of product pipeline through maintaining awareness of relevant scientific and competitive developments, scientific evaluation of potential candidates.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all laboratory activities.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Biological Sciences with 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, either academic or Biopharmaceutical industry.

  • Broad knowledge of molecular and cellular biology. Candidate must be familiar with DNA manipulation techniques including restriction digest, PCR, sub-cloning, plasmid purification, ligation and transformation.

  • Knowledge of protein expression analysis techniques including SDS PAGE electrophoresis and Western blotting preferred. Experience optimizing recombinant protein production in E. coli expression systems highly desired.
