COMMERCIAL STRATEGY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | EVOLVING BIOTECH COMPANY | GREATER BOSTON AREA | RETAINED
We have been retained by our small biotech client to hire the Leader of Commercial Assessment, Strategy and Product Planning as our client is are moving from an R to a Commercial Organization. This is an evolving company preparing for their first product launch. This Executive Director needs to build the capabilities to run the pre-launch activities as they prepare for 2020. Their lead oncology compound which is in Phase III is being defined as a new class of oncology therapeutics.
The goal out of the gate is to define, execute and lead the pre-launch planning activities.
This role is for a doer; for someone who likes to be in all facets from development through to commercialization.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS COMPANY AND ROLE:
With regards to the pipeline, this person will prioritize it along with supporting the assessment of additional potential transactions. In doing so, this person will work closely with cross functional team members and thus need to bring their market research expertise.
This is both a strategic and tactical role for launch planning and life-cycle management.
This is for a builder and an owner.
The career path lends itself to either advancing oneself on the commercial side of the business or go into corporate development performing commercial assessment for potential licensing opportunities.

Location: This company is located in a charming historic town in the greater Boston area.
HIGHLIGHTS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide recommendations and insights on optimizing current market position.
Recommends commercial strategies including packaging, pricing, expense budgets and profit plans.
Develops early launch planning activities and early brand plans.
Develops best practices process for market assessments pre and post launch.
Creates revenue and valuation models.
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
An MBA degree and scientific training a plus.
Oncology experience a must.
Must have been successful in pre-launch activities for a lead asset; meaning owned it and moved it forward.
Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech new product planning experience and/or pharmaceutical global strategic marketing experience in oncology, with demonstrated strategic/analytical skills required.
Experience working with cross-functional program teams and R&D to guide asset development is strongly desired. Proven ability to influence in these settings is necessary.
Knowledge of Excel and Finance Theory with the ability to build revenue models is a plus.
